Effects of Two Pilot Injection on Combustion and Emissions in a PCCI Diesel Engine

نویسندگان

چکیده

The effects of two pilot injections on combustion and emissions were evaluated in a single−cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, which operated premixed charge compression ignition (PCCI) modes with multiple heavy exhaust gas recirculation under the low load by experiments simulation. It was revealed that delay start first injection (SOI−P1) or advance second (SOI−P2), respectively, pressure, heat release rate (HRR), temperature peak all increased. Analysis process indicates that, during periods, timing mainly determined SOI−P2 while released influenced SOI−P1. With SOI−P1 SOI−P2, nitrogen oxide (NOx) generation increased significantly soot varied little. In addition, increasing Q1 decreasing quantity (Q2) can manipulate NOx at level. 5 °CA couple reducing Q2 proposed, mitigate compromise between thermal efficiency present PCCI mode.

Sensitivity of Combustion Noise and NOx and Soot Emissions to Pilot Injection in PCCI Diesel Engines

Diesel engines are the most commonly used internal combustion engines nowadays, especially in European transportation. This preference is due to their low consumption and acceptable driveability and comfort. However, the main disadvantages of traditional direct injection Diesel engines are their high levels of noise, nitrogen oxides (NO x) and soot emissions, and the usage of fossil fuels. In o...

A dynamic PCCI combustion model for Diesel engine control design

Subject of this work is a dynamic simulation model for PCCI combustion that can be used in closed-loop control development. A detailed multi-zone chemistry model for the high-pressure part of the engine cycle is extended by a mean value model accounting for the gas exchange losses. The resulting model is capable of describing PCCI combustion with stationary exactness. It is at the same time ver...

Effects of Direct Water Injection on DI Diesel Engine Combustion

The effects of in-cylinder water injection on a direct injection (DI) Diesel engine were studied using a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) program based on the Kiva-3v code. The spray model is validated against experimental bomb data with good agreement for vapor penetration as a function of time. It was found that liquid penetration increased approximately 35% with 23% of the fuel volume repl...

CFD Investigation into Diesel PCCI Combustion with Optimized Fuel Injection

A multi-pulse injection strategy for premixed charge compression ignition (PCCI) combustion was investigated in a four-valve, direct-injection diesel engine by a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation using KIVA-3V code coupled with detailed chemistry. The effects of fuel splitting proportion, injection timing, spray angles, and injection velocity were examined. The mixing process and fo...

Effects of Pilot Injection Timing and EGR on Combustion, Performance and Exhaust Emissions in a Common Rail Diesel Engine Fueled with a Canola Oil Biodiesel-Diesel Blend

Biodiesel as a clean energy source could reduce environmental pollution compared to fossil fuel, so it is becoming increasingly important. In this study, we investigated the effects of different pilot injection timings from before top dead center (BTDC) and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) on combustion, engine performance, and exhaust emission characteristics in a common rail diesel engine fuel...
